Haiti Boys

Haiti Ezechiel2Two little guys dropped off at the orphanage by family members who could not properly care for them. They were weak; their teeth were rotten and they were very much in need of help. The youngest one, Ezechiel (shown here), was very sick with a fever and listlessness. It was obvious that movements were difficult and painful for him. We soon learned he had Sickle Cell Anemia and was hospitalized for several days — he would have died without treatment. The older one, Ednel, seemed to adapt to life at the Center in Godet and gradually grew stronger. The brothers have no parents, having lost each one at different stages in their short lives. And, while they have older siblings, they are not able to care for them. True orphans in need.

After nearly two years, they are doing well. Ezechiel is now unable to live at the Center due to his health and is being cared for by Chances for Children where medical help is readily available; Ednel never slows down and remains active. They enjoy school and their family at the Center. Without the help of loving and caring sponsors, these two children would have become two more statistics of the poverty and hopelessness which permeates the Haitian culture. This is why it is important to plan for #GivingTuesday … be unselfish during this Holiday season and share your blessings with those who have nothing.
