Haiti Ream

Ream2Every day is filled with opportunities to make the most of our time; this is a story with an ending still to be written.  When we moved into our Haitian neighborhood there was one guy who was head and shoulders above them all.  He made a challenge to me concerning a voodoo ceremony.  I like a good challenge and accepted it and I told him, “When it does not happen you need to tell the world that the one true God is more powerful than any voodoo curse.”  The time for the curse to happen came and went.  I approached him and he told me, “I did not try the curse.”

A couple of weeks later I took him on some errands and to a place to hang out and enjoy the day.  On our way home he opened up and said, “People say you have to go to church to be saved or go to heaven.”  I asked him, “What do you think?”  He said, “I agree with those people.” Then I asked him, “Has anyone ever opened the Bible and showed you how you can have a relationship with Christ?”  He said, “No.”  He gave me permission to share with him from the Scriptures about Jesus dying for his sins, being buried and rising again.  I asked him if he would like to put his trust in a Savior.  He said, “No, not now.”  But he continued and proceeded to stretch out his right hand and said, “Jesus is over here,” and then stretched out his left and said, “Voodoo is over here.” Then took his right hand and said, “Now, I am here in the middle.”  Please continue to pray for my neighbor and for more opportunities to share the best message in the world with the world (Col 4:2-6 and/or John 14:6).
