Understanding the many obstacles facing children yearning to attend school and the desire of parents who wish to send them, Heart of God Haiti began working with a school in Godet, a rural mountain village outside Port au Prince. After discussions with Godet Community School’s director and head teacher, 35 children were identified as being in need–children who may not be able to attend school without financial assistance. For the past two school years, these children have received uniforms, school supplies, and textbooks. These children, as well as the other students at the school, also receive a hot meal each school day because of a feeding program started just this school year. For some students, this may be the most substantial food they eat all day.
By partnering with Godet Community School staff, it is our prayer that these students will grow to be educated young men and women who will one day be instrumental in helping Haiti build a brighter future.
